"Writing is a way of engaging with the world, of making sense of our experiences, and of sharing our insights and perspectives with others." [1]
For us now, the main limitation of Tema is the necessity to pay for tokens. It is unavoidable since the service is paid. Hopefully, we will find a way to make the price cheaper.
The second point is the absence of a library. Alex personally would like to be able to export books to a library that is global for the app. This does make sense, and it is one of the features we are going to implement next.
There are quite a few moments when Tema depends on OpenAI models, which brings some dependencies.
The most obvious issue is that the knowledge is limited to the database and does not contain the latest books, articles, and materials.
If you need to work with fresh sources like those, Tema won't be able to assist you at the moment.
Another point of limitation is the amount of text you can feed to the model. It will not process a long read in one go, which is why we keep blocks. This enables us to focus on one thing at a time and dim out everything else. This focus is beneficial. Short blocks are also advantageous.
One more point is that the chatbot is talkative. Sometimes, it will provide results with comments, and we have not found a way around it for 100% of cases.
We started this project when we saw the power of AI as an assistant. There are many things that consume time but bring less value, such as reference tracking, checking for tone, and validating arguments. It is better to have someone always available to assist.
Obviously, you cannot skip real-world checks. You cannot rely on AI fully, as it is not as smart as it appears to be. However, it can compare and play with words, so use it to your benefit.
Place one block on top of another to build a tall tower. Add one brick at a time. How simple is that?
"The most important thing about art is to work. Nothing else matters except sitting down every day and trying." [2]
There are some limitations those are not connected with ChatBot. For example - Tema Editor does not let you edit rich text. It’s build around plain text, while you can create formatting based on the meaning. Tema will allow you to save Markdown files later.
Also, you can always copy formatted text from the Preview tab.
